First Friday at Cherry Street Pier (Independence Day Edition)

It’s a new month, Philly, and we’re excited to bring you an action-packed First Friday featuring Our America: Expressions of Freedom and Fireworks part of Wawa Welcome America.

All exhibitions and events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. Review the full lineup:

Our America: Expression of Freedom and Fireworks part of Wawa Welcome America
Artists from Olive Dance Theatre and We The People Stage will use spoken word, dance, and song to portray personal and historical stories rooted in passionate expressions of freedom. The evening will culminate with a fireworks display over the Delaware River.

UPDATE: Due to anticipated attendance size, Our America Now will be moving to The Oval XP on the Parkway on Friday, July 1st from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wawa Welcome America Waterfront Fireworks are still scheduled for Friday, July 1st at 9:30 p.m. Fireworks can be enjoyed along the Delaware River Waterfront. Cherry Street Pier, Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest, Spruce Street Harbor Park and all Delaware River Waterfront parks and restaurants will be open with normal operating hours.

Philadelphia Contemporary Present’s Jean Shin’s Freshwater
“Freshwater” is a new commission by the artist Jean Shin that celebrates and pays tribute to the freshwater river mussel while asking us to consider our responsibilities towards the health of the river and its ecosystem. On display through November.

Open Studios
See the Pier’s resident artists at work in their studios and purchase an original piece of artwork, too.
