PA Ballet’s “Spread Your Wings”
Cherry Street Pier is thrilled to host the Pennsylvania Ballet’s Spread Your Wings, an enthralling free public exhibition in partnership with Mural Arts Philadelphia, on display May 7 through June 6.

Making dance personal and accessible, Spread Your Wings is a dynamic display of photography, video, an indoor mural, and live performances to inspire creativity and personal engagement with dance and storytelling. Through the visual arts, photography, choreography, and creative writing opportunities Spread Your Wings is about equipping Philadelphians to engage with art-making and movement to become agents of their own creative experience.
Marvel at Mural Arts Philadelphia Artist David McShane’s newest mural is part of the exhibition that is inspired by Shawn Theodore’s photography of Pennsylvania Ballet company dancers. Also on display will be large-scale photography of these dancers by Vikki Sloviter, Arian Molina, and Shawn Theodore as well as a video directed by Michael Candelori.

Join us opening night for a live performance by the Pennsylvania Ballet II, choreographed by Maria Konrad, and featuring original classical, spoken word, electronic, and jazz music.

A quartet of bowed strings and harp will perform works written for ballet, works for string quartet, and dance music from South America—surrounded by stunning dance photography by Philadelphia photographers, artwork by Fleisher Art Memorial artists, and a digital mural by David McShane of Mural Arts Philadelphia. Featured musicians include: Luigi Mazzocchi and Chris Jusell (violins); Hannah Nicholas (viola); Jennie Lorenzo (cello) and Mindy Cutcher (harp)
