Blues of the Mountain Hills by Gravy Studios

October 2–November 1
2026
Location: Cherry Street Pier

Blues of the Mountain Hills, presented by Gravy Studio, features work by Yannick Lowery and Emily Carris-Duncan created through a Vermont–Philadelphia artist exchange, using alternative photographic processes and archival imagery to reflect on memory, landscape, and transformation.

Blues of the Mountain Hills explores the hidden histories of place and the ways landscapes hold
memories of communities that have disappeared. Inspired by the town submerged beneath Lake Whitingham in Vermont, Yannick Lowery and Emily Carris-Duncan use cyanotype and alternative photo processes to transform archival imagery that blur the boundaries between history, memory, and imagination. The exhibition grows from a creative exchange between Vermont and Philadelphia, reflecting on how collaborative practices can uncover stories, connect communities, and reimagine our relationship to the landscapes we inhabit.

This exhibition is part of Collective Futures, a six-week, citywide arts festival activating more than 30 artist-run spaces, DIY venues, and community-based initiatives across Philadelphia.
