Studio 7

Matthew Ludak is a documentary photographer based in Philadelphia. His work focuses on real-world issues like class, industry, and the environment.

Through his lens, he captures everyday moments that tell deeper stories about change, struggle, and resilience.

Matthew uses natural light and simple, thoughtful composition to create powerful images. His goal is to show both the beauty and the complexity of difficult subjects. His photographs invite viewers to slow down, take a closer look, and think about the world around them.

His work has been shown in galleries and festivals around the world, including exhibitions in Amsterdam, Sydney, Marseille, and Portugal. His long-term project, Nothing Gold Can Stay, explores how communities are shaped by time and change. The project has received support from the Puffin Foundation and was named a Top 50 finalist in Critical Mass by Photo Lucida.

In addition to his creative work, Matthew has taught photography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Today, he continues to document important social topics while creating space for conversation and reflection through his images.
