Summer is in full bloom and we’re excited to welcome you to an action-packed First Friday at the Pier featuring the opening of four enthralling exhibitions — resident artists Acori Honzo, Athena Scott, Thomcat23’s Turning Heroes into Heroes, Ted Lieverman’s More Nightwork, Creative Resilient Youth’s Exhibition Roots Before Branches, and the opening of Prints for Protest.

Acori Honzo, Athena Scott, Keni Thomas (Thomcat23)’s Turning Heroes into Heroes
Resident artists Athena ScottAcori Honzo, and Thomcat23 are celebrating Black American heroes by transforming them into comic book superheroes in this exciting new group exhibition, which honors the icons that have inspired them.

Opening of Prints for Protest
Prints for Protest consists of a diverse group of artists and activists who share the belief that art can be used as a tool for political activism and resistance. See this exhibition through June 27.

Opening of Ted Lieverman’s More Nightwork
This photo exhibition by photographer Ted Lieverman celebrates the night workers who are at their jobs while the rest of the world sleeps. See this exhibition through June 27.

Opening of Creative Resilient Youth’s Exhibition Roots Before Branches
collaboration featuring work made by young artists in Creative Resilient Youth and the Young Artist Program, this exhibition will feature artwork from young artists who celebrate self-expression, vulnerability, and lived experience with navigating mental health challenges, abuse, bullying, racism, and other forms of oppression.

PA Ballet’s Spread Your Wings
Pennsylvania Ballet’s Spread Your Wings in partnership with Mural Arts is a dynamic display of photography, video, an indoor mural, and live performances to inspire creativity and personal engagement with dance and storytelling. On display through June 6.

Parking and Directions

Please Note: Construction for the exciting Delaware River Trail is happening along Columbus Boulevard. The project is making headway and will result in a stunning multi-use trail that will increase accessibility to the Waterfront. The trial is scheduled for completion in Fall 2021.
